Adult Swim Unveils New Preview for Rick and Morty: The Anime

Adult Swim's YouTube channel has released an exciting early preview for the highly anticipated "Rick and Morty: The Anime" series. The anime adaptation is set to premiere on Adult Swim and Max in 2024, with an additional broadcast on Adult Swim Canada.

The anime will be an original creation, incorporating adapted themes and events from the original "Rick and Morty" animated series. Takashi Sano, known for his work on "Tower of God," is both writing and directing the 10-episode series at Telecom Animation Film. Sano has previously directed popular animated shorts for the series, including "Rick and Morty vs. Genocider" and "Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)." The series is being produced by Sola Entertainment, with Maki Nagano, Max Nishi, and Takenari Maeda as producers. Yu Kiyozono serves as the animation producer, and Yuuki Kakizoe is the assistant producer.

Executive producers Jason DeMarco and Joseph Chou lead the production, with Arisa Matsuzawa as the art director and Makiko Kojima as the color designer. Sou Ki directs the CGI, Kaori Kobayashi supervises special effects, Tatsuo Noguchi handles composite direction, and Yoshihiro Kasahara is the editor. Kōichi Iizuka is the sound director, and Tetsuya Takahashi is composing the music at Terra-Musica.

The opening theme song, "Love is Entropy," is performed by OC from Code of Zero with Cameron Earnshaw. OtoneZ wrote the lyrics, composed the music, and arranged the song, promising an engaging auditory experience to accompany the visual spectacle.

Previously, Studio DEEN produced the "Samurai & Shogun" animated short for the "Rick and Morty" series, which aired on Toonami and streamed online in March 2020. Adult Swim followed up with a sequel in November 2021. Other notable shorts include "The Great Yokai Battle of Akihabara" and "Rick and Morty vs. Genocider," both of which showcased the creative potential of merging the "Rick and Morty" universe with anime aesthetics.

With its unique blend of original content and beloved elements from the main series, "Rick and Morty: The Anime" is poised to offer fans a fresh and exciting take on the iconic duo's adventures. Be sure to catch the premiere in 2024 on Adult Swim and Max!
