The highly anticipated second season of the Blue Lock television anime is set to air for 14 episodes starting on October 5 at 11:30 p.m. on TV Asahi's IMAnimation programming block. The official website revealed two new additions to the cast on Monday, adding to the excitement of fans eagerly awaiting the show's return.

Satoshi Hino, known for his role in Haikyuu!!, will voice Oliver Aiku, while Akihisa Wakayama, who appeared in Youkoso Jitsuryoku Shijou Shugi no Kyoushitsu e, will take on the role of Shuto Sendou. These new characters are expected to bring fresh dynamics and excitement to the series.

The anime is being directed by Shintarou Inokawa, noted for his work on Blame!, at studio 8bit. Chief director Yuuji Haibara, known for his work on Tensura Nikki: Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, will also be involved. The series composition and script are handled by Taku Kishimoto, who has previously worked on Bucchigiri?! Character designs are by Kenji Tanabe, who has worked on Chiyu Mahou no Machigatta Tsukaikata, and the music composition is by Jun Murayama, returning from the first season of Blue Lock.

Blue Lock adapts the soccer manga written by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yuusuke Nomura, which began serialization in Weekly Shounen Magazine in August 2018. Kodansha published the 29th volume on May 16, with the 30th volume scheduled for release on August 16.

Additionally, Kaneshiro and Kouta Sannomiya started serializing a spin-off manga, Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in June 2022. This spin-off focuses on the character Seishirou Nagi. Kodansha shipped the fourth volume on April 17, and the fifth volume is set for release on July 17.

Kodansha USA licensed both the original manga and the spin-off, with the original manga's 25th volume released on May 7 and the 26th volume set for release on July 2. The first volume of the spin-off is scheduled to release on October 15.
