"Hunter x Hunter" Manga Returns After Hiatus: Fans Rejoice

In an exciting update for manga enthusiasts, Shueisha revealed during its "Jump Press" livestream on Monday that Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter manga is set to make its much-anticipated return. The series will resume in Weekly Shonen Jump's 45th issue on October 7, marking the end of a hiatus that began in January 2023 due to the author’s health concerns.

Earlier this year, Shueisha announced that due to Togashi’s ongoing health issues, the manga would no longer follow a weekly serialization format. This decision came after careful consultation with Togashi, reflecting the publisher's commitment to ensuring the author's well-being while allowing the beloved series to continue.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting new content, and the release of the 38th compiled volume on September 4 is set to reignite their excitement. The previous volume, the first in four years, was published in November 2022, with Viz Media making it available in English shortly thereafter. Togashi has also been keeping fans in the loop with updates on upcoming chapters, including the completion of chapter 401 in March 2023 and progress on chapter 405 teased in May.

Since its debut in Weekly Shonen Jump in 1998, Hunter x Hunter has become a cultural phenomenon, inspiring two anime series, several films, original video anime (OVA) titles, and even stage plays. The franchise’s influence continues to expand with the upcoming release of a 2D 3v3 fighting game, Hunter x Hunter Nen x Impact, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam later this year.

As Hunter x Hunter prepares to return, fans around the world are gearing up for the continuation of a story that has captivated audiences for decades. The combination of Togashi’s compelling narrative and Shueisha’s thoughtful approach to serialization promises to deliver the same high-quality experience that readers have come to love.
