Kingdom Anime Returns This Fall With Sixth Season and a New Warfront

Fans of Kingdom have more reason to get hyped—NHK has confirmed that the anime adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s epic historical manga is set to return for a sixth season this October. The announcement comes just months after the fifth season wrapped up its 13-episode run in early 2024. This next chapter in the saga promises to ignite the fierce war between the states of Qin and Zhao, with the protagonist Xin stepping into the legacy of General Wang Yi by wielding his iconic spear on the battlefield.

The Kingdom anime first debuted in 2012 and has steadily grown in popularity across the globe. The second season arrived in 2013, followed by a third in 2020. While the third season faced delays due to the pandemic, it eventually resumed with a full re-airing and continued through to completion in 2021. The fourth season premiered in 2022, and the fifth launched in January 2024. Over the years, streaming services like Crunchyroll and Funimation have brought the show to international audiences, helping expand its already devoted fanbase.

At the heart of Kingdom is the journey of Xin, once a slave boy, who dreams of becoming a legendary general. Alongside Qin’s young king, Ying Zheng, Xin fights to unify the fractured Chinese states under a single banner. Their shared ambition sets the stage for monumental battles, power struggles, and deep political intrigue.

First published in Weekly Young Jump in 2006, Kingdom has become one of the best-selling manga series in history. Viz Media plans to bring the manga to English readers starting this November, making it more accessible than ever. The franchise has also inspired four live-action films, further cementing its place in Japanese pop culture.

With a new season on the horizon, the Kingdom anime shows no signs of slowing down. As the battlefield expands and the stakes climb, longtime viewers and new fans alike will soon witness yet another chapter in Xin’s relentless climb toward greatness.
