My Hero Academia Delights Fans with Anime Short and Film Success

An exciting anime short has brought extra joy to fans of My Hero Academia, adapting a special one-shot manga crafted by series creator Kōhei Horikoshi. This prologue story offers a glimpse of Deku, Katsuki Bakugo, and their classmates from U.A. High School’s Hero Class 1-A, setting the stage for the events of the recent film. The original Japanese voice cast returned to bring this short to life, adding an extra layer of authenticity for viewers.

The manga version of the one-shot was made available to English readers through Viz Media's Shonen Jump website on October 8, coinciding with the film's North American release. The movie initially debuted in Japan on August 2, where it enjoyed tremendous success. Since then, the film has gone on to sell 2.48 million tickets, generating an impressive 3.55 billion yen (about $23.4 million) in revenue.

TOHO International began screening the film in U.S. theaters on October 11, offering both English subtitled and dubbed versions. The movie had its North American premiere at Los Angeles' Beyond Fest on October 6, followed by special cheer screenings in New York and Los Angeles on October 9.
