One Piece Returns in April 2025 with Major Updates and a “Super” Year Ahead

After a brief hiatus since October, One Piece is set to resume its anime journey on April 6, 2025, delighting fans who’ve eagerly awaited its return. The announcement came during Jump Festa, where excitement reached new heights with a preview showcasing the Straw Hat crew bracing for the explosive conclusion to the “Egghead” arc.

As the series picks up, the Straw Hats are on a daring mission to smuggle Dr. Vegapunk off Egghead Island, only to face a Marine siege that threatens to derail their plans. The arc’s second half will also bring a significant change for viewers, with One Piece moving to a new timeslot: Sunday nights at 11:15 PM JST.

This isn’t the only shift on the horizon. Subaru Kimura will take over the role of Franky in the Japanese dub, following Kazuki Yao’s recent retirement. Yao, who voiced Franky for years, ceremoniously passed the torch—and a pair of Franky’s signature underwear—onstage to Kimura. Creator Eiichiro Oda expressed heartfelt gratitude to Yao for his incredible work and warmly welcomed Kimura to the One Piece family.

Marking its 25th anniversary, 2025 promises to be a landmark year for the franchise. Oda hinted at exciting developments, including Netflix’s upcoming second season of the live-action adaptation, a remake of the anime for newcomers, and potential film announcements. Meanwhile, the manga’s Elbaph arc promises thrilling twists, with a mysterious character poised to shake up the world.

With the anime’s return, new projects on the horizon, and the ongoing epic manga, 2025 is shaping up to be a “SUUUUUUPER” year for One Piece fans everywhere.
