The Next Chapter of Heroism: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Anime Set for April Debut

While the curtain may have fallen on Deku’s journey, Studio Bones isn’t finished exploring the world of My Hero Academia. At this year’s Jump Festa, fans were treated to an exciting announcement: My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, the popular manga spinoff, will receive its own anime adaptation, premiering in April 2025.

Written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, Vigilantes takes place five years before the events of the original series and introduces a new protagonist, Koichi Haimawari. A college student with the ability to move across any flat surface, Koichi isn’t a licensed Hero, but that doesn’t stop him from lending a hand to those in need. His life takes a dramatic turn when he and high schooler Kazuho Haneyema cross paths with Knuckleduster, a rugged vigilante who recruits them into his unconventional team.

The manga, which wrapped up in 2022, earned a devoted fanbase thanks to its engaging story and unique perspective on hero society. Fans have long hoped for an anime adaptation, and the newly released teaser shows promise. With its familiar spirit from My Hero Academia infused with a fresh, gritty energy, Vigilantes looks poised to offer an intriguing glimpse into the lives of those operating outside the established Hero system.

This spinoff dives into uncharted territory, exploring how "unchosen heroes" like Koichi, Kazuho, and Knuckleduster navigate a society dominated by officially sanctioned protectors. Their journey will add a new layer to the beloved universe, providing fans with a different perspective on heroism. As we await the final season of My Hero Academia, Vigilantes is set to carry the torch, bringing a thrilling new chapter to the franchise.
