The governor of New York has promised to invest $10 million to build a “Fashion Innovation Center” in NYC

Kathy Hochul, New York's governor, has pledged $10 million to assist fund the construction of the city's Fashion Innovation Center (FIC).

The institution will be created by Empire State Development and will promote collaborative efforts to produce intelligent and environmentally friendly textiles in New York State.

By utilizing local crop production for fiber materials and by developing technology to make the fashion and textiles industries more sustainable, the FIC will meet the needs of a variety of industries.

A Sustainable Fashion Innovation Centre Accelerator will also be housed there to promote industry-wide adoption of eco-friendly solutions to pressing issues.

The governor of New York made the announcement at New York Fashion Week 2022.

She commented on the project in a news release, saying, “As the fashion capital of the world, New York is the perfect fit for cutting-edge solutions to make this booming industry more innovative and more sustainable.

According to its proponents, “The FIC will foster collaboration across fashion, agriculture, and other industries to reduce our environmental footprint, limit waste and create opportunity across New York State.”
