Elon Musk ends Twitter's remote work and warns of "Difficult days ahead."

Elon Musk has sent out his first bulk email to the Twitter workforce. In it, he tells them to get ready for "difficult times ahead" and puts an end to remote work right away. In the email that was reported by Bloomberg News, Musk said that if the US economy got worse, it would be bad for Twitter.

Analysts have predicted that advertising spending will grow more slowly in 2023. Since ads make up about 90% of Twitter's revenue, this will have a big effect on the company.

"There's no way to make these challenges sound better," Musk stated. He is reportedly rumored to have told workers that they needed to clock in for at least 40 hours each week, with the caveat that he would make exceptions for legitimate emergencies.

Musk has stated that he does not enjoy remote work, but in a Q&A with Twitter staff in June, he assured them that "special" people will be allowed to continue working from home.

Twitter's ad revenue will also suffer under Musk's disorganized leadership. Due to Musk's takeover and his aspirations to make the site less monitored, some major corporations have ceased paying for Twitter adverts, including the insurance company Allianz and the automotive company Audi.

In a public Q&A on Wednesday, Musk assured advertisers that the platform's content moderation policies will not be changing. Without presenting evidence, Musk has previously claimed that "activist groups" are pressing advertisers to cancel ads. He has also claimed, without naming any specific groups, that these "activist groups" are "working to undermine free speech in America."

Once solely available to official accounts, Twitter's verification system recently underwent a major overhaul that allowed anyone to pay $8 for a badge. Because of this, many people now pose as well-known companies and individuals. According to leaked emails, Musk instructed Twitter employees that the subscription service Twitter Blue should generate 50 percent of the company's revenue.
