Fujifilm Unveils Lighter, More Powerful Techno-Stabi Binoculars
Fujifilm has expanded its Techno-Stabi lineup with two advanced binocular models, the TS-L2040 and TS-L1640, delivering enhanced magnification and portability. Unveiled recently and spotted by PetaPixel, these models are a leap forward in optical technology, offering magnifications of 20x and 16x respectively, compared to the previous top-tier model’s 14x. Despite their improved capabilities, both models are more compact and lightweight, all while retaining essential features like waterproofing. Fujifilm ensures these binoculars can survive being submerged up to one meter for 30 minutes, demonstrating their rugged build.
The TS-L2040, boasting 20x magnification, will retail for $1,299.95 when it hits the market on January 31, 2025. Meanwhile, the TS-L1640, offering 16x magnification, will be slightly more affordable at $1,199.95.
These binoculars combat the common issue of shaky imagery at high magnification using a gimbal-mounted prism with electronic stabilization of ±3 degrees. Their lighter design—1.88 pounds compared to the 2.9-pound TS-X14x40—makes them ideal for birdwatchers and hikers seeking portability without sacrificing performance. The older model, while bulkier, remains a solid choice for marine enthusiasts due to its superior stabilization range of ±6 degrees.
Additional features include 40mm objective lenses for enhanced brightness and up to 30 hours of stabilization powered by two AAA batteries. Fujifilm’s thoughtful auto-shutdown feature after 60 minutes helps conserve power, ensuring these binoculars are ready for extended adventures.
