Tesla invites people to “AI Day 2” and hints Full Self-Driving CARS, Tesla Bot, and beyond

Invitations to Tesla's AI Day 2022 are being sent and the firm is already dropping hints about; Full self-driving cars, it’s highly anticipated Tesla Bot “Optimus”, and more.

Similar to Apple’s annual “Apple Event” developers conference, Tesla has begun hosting events in a similar fashion. Rather than a more traditional product demonstration, Tesla day is more centered around “Tech innovations”.

The company's autonomous driving project was the focus of last year's "Tesla AI Day" event. The business also unveiled its Dojo supercomputer and its revised "Tesla Bot" (now named "Tesla Optimus").

Musk, CEO of Tesla, originally planned to hold the 2022 event earlier in the year but opted to push the date back to September 30 to give himself more time to demonstrate a functioning Optimus model.

Musk has previously mentioned AI Day as a means of recruiting new members for Tesla's AI team, which he’s dubbed the "greatest in the world."

However, the presentation is also aimed at potential consumers and Tesla owners who are waiting to hear more about the company's intentions to fulfill its 2016 pledge to make all of its vehicles capable of completely autonomous driving.

As of late, Musk's priorities have shifted several times. Instead of a million robo-taxis on the road by the end of the year, as he had previously promised, he now predicts that one million individuals will be participating in the FSD Beta program by the end of the year.

The pressure mounds with the unveiling of the potentially revolutionary Tesla Bot (also known as Optimus). Musk has been dropping clues that a working prototype of Optimus will be ready in time for the show. The CEO has said categorically that the humanoid robot program is now the company's top priority, diverting resources away from Autopilot and FSD in the process.
