Joaquin Phoenix's new film is the most costly film A24 has produced to date

Films directed by A24 often feature Joaquin Phoenix and Ari Aster in lead roles. Prior to “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once” which generated $100 million in revenue, A24's highest-grossing film was Hereditary, which grossed $81 million worldwide. Aster's films have a proven track record, and they've been widely celebrated at A24 thanks to their prevalence in internet culture, inspiring several memes. This resulted in the highest possible budget for his upcoming film.

According to Variety: "Canada's Sphere Films has secured a deal with U.S. studio A24 to distribute nine of its films in the Canadian market." Sphere Films' "Aster's Disappointment Boulevard," starring Joaquin Phoenix, is among the movies that will be released to theaters as part of this new deal.

Disappointment Boulevard is expected to be A24's most expensive film to date, costing roughly $55 million.

While $55 million is substantial for an indie film, it's a fraction of what Netflix spent on films like Red Notice and The Gray Man (both of which cost approximately $200 million to produce).

There will be a 2023 release of “Disappointment Blvd”. The movie will feature Nathan Lane, Patti LuPone, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Parker Posey, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squires, Michael Gandolfini, Zoe Lister-Jones, and Richard Kind.
