Assassin's Creed Shadows Gets a Prequel Manga: Tale of Iga

Ubisoft has exciting news for fans of the Assassin's Creed franchise. The company recently announced on X (formerly Twitter) that Assassin's Creed Shadows will receive a prequel manga titled Assassin's Creed Shadows: Iga no Monogatari(Tale of Iga). The manga will be illustrated by reguje, known for their work on UEN and Change the World one-shots.

The manga is set to debut in Japanese on Kodansha's YanMaga website on March 20, coinciding with the global launch of the game. Although Ubisoft confirmed that the manga will be available outside of Japan after the initial release, no additional details have been provided about the international launch.

Assassin's Creed Shadows follows the intertwined stories of Naoe, a skilled shinobi Assassin from Iga Province, and Yasuke, the legendary African samurai. Set during the turbulent late Sengoku period, the duo navigates a complex web of alliances and enemies, ultimately realizing their shared destiny as they help shape the future of Japan. Fans will be thrilled to know that Mackenyu, the actor known for his role in the live-action One Piece series, lends his voice to Gennojo, a crucial character who aids the protagonist in tracking down a key target.

The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows, macOS, and iPadOS. This announcement comes after Minoji Kurata's Assassin's Creed: China manga, which ran from October 2019 to June 2021.

As Assassin's Creed Shadows continues the series' tradition of exploring historical periods through the lens of the age-old conflict between Assassins and Templars, fans can look forward to a rich narrative that brings together fascinating characters and historical intrigue. With the prequel manga expanding the lore, this latest installment promises to be an unforgettable journey into feudal Japan.
