Marvel Rivals Brings New Heat with Season 2, But You'll Have to Wait to Play
Fans of Marvel Rivals should prepare for a short pause in the action, as servers will be temporarily down on April 11 starting at 2 AM PDT (5 AM EDT). This maintenance window is expected to last a couple of hours, during which players won’t be able to access any part of the game—not even the practice range. The reason? A major update is on the way, and it’s bringing some big changes for Season 2.
Once the servers go dark, players will be prompted to download the Season 2 update. But don’t get too eager—downloading the patch won’t let you back into the game until NetEase flips the servers back on. The highlight of the update is the introduction of a brand-new tank hero: Emma Frost. She joins the lineup as a Vanguard character, bringing her signature psychic toughness and flair to the battlefield.
Along with Emma, the update includes performance improvements for PC players, various balance tweaks, and a round of bug fixes aimed at tightening gameplay. A fresh Battle Pass will also go live, loaded with exclusive cosmetics, emotes, and skins to unlock—just in time for players looking to freshen up their roster.
If that’s not enough to get you hyped, don’t worry—there’s already talk of a mid-season update. It promises another new character, potential meta shifts, and perhaps even more of the wild, meme-worthy antics fans have come to love (yes, maybe even another Venom dance moment).
Season 2 is shaping up to be a wild ride—and once those servers go live again, it’s game on.
