Pokémon Violet and Scarlet feature Easter eggs from Red and Blue

While Pokémon Violet and Scarlet make significant adjustments to the series' formula, they do not ignore the franchise's history. A few Pokémon Red and Blue easter eggs can be found in the Paldea region, which is sure to bring back fond memories for many players.

In the game's newest challenge, perched high on a mountain in Paldea's southwestern corner, gamers will face off against the game's psychic gym. Despite being one of the game's lesser cities, the massive stone arena creates an atmosphere that helps to set it apart.

As you draw near, you may begin to realize it for what it is. Stone mosaics line the arena's walls. These images are carbon copies of the Red and Blue sprites. In order to give players a sense of the overall type of monster they had, the original Game Boy Pokémon games featured generic graphics for the party menu.

Traditional creatures such as birds, insects with six legs, blobs, and more can all be found in Alfornada's arena. If you're looking for additional references to the original games, that's the largest one, but Paldea is full of other hidden treasures. Porto Marinada, a coastal town, features murals of water-type Pokemon including Magikarp and Psyduck.

This sort of detail gives Scarlet and Violet's otherwise straightforward portrayal of cities a bit of personality. Pokémon Violet and Scarlet are now playable on the Nintendo Switch.
