Repair shops for steam decks are now online

The Steam Deck, a portable computer developed by Valve, has been steadily improving since its introduction in February. On Friday, September 9th 2022, Valve announced on its blog that its console repair service was open for business. This followed rumors that the firm is developing improved versions of the system.

It's a good idea to have Valve fix your Steam Deck, even if you can fix it yourself because iFixit offers a number of replacement components. Owners of Steam Decks will be able to submit their devices to one of Valve's repair facilities, where employees will investigate the issue and attempt to provide a remedy if possible.

Steam Decks are serviced for free if the issue is covered under the warranty, such as a button that doesn't always work. A repair crew would contact the owner of a Steam Deck with an offer to remedy the device’s issues for a charge if it developed a problem outside the scope of the warranty, like if a dog chewed through one or more of the control sticks. Steam Decks can be returned at any time if the user decides they'd rather attempt troubleshooting on their own.

The Steam Deck repair service may be contacted and service requests submitted through the console's support website.
