Canadian developers “Sabotage Studio” created the retro-inspired JRPG: “Sea of Stars”. A new gameplay trailer showcasing the fight system has been released. The release date for the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC Steam versions of the game is slated for 2023.

Different attack patterns, such as multi-hits or area-of-effect skills, can aid in disabling enemy defenses, and each member of the party can specialize in doing one or two of these forms of damage.

The developers of Sea of Stars are understandably proud of the way the game evokes the spirit of old Japanese role-playing games while still incorporating cutting-edge elements appropriate for modern video games. Even though it uses 2D graphics, the game features elements like several character combos, three-dimensional map layouts, and dynamic lighting effects. You don't have to grind, there are no random encounters or different battlegrounds. A glance at the fight mechanic reveals how the company intends to implement its promise that the fighting system will emphasize strategy and skill over random chance on its Kickstarter website.
