Sony and NCSoft are developing a Horizon MMORPG
Reports say that Sony and NCSoft have agreed to make a Horizon MMORPG.
The South Korean studio behind the Lineage and Guild Wars MMORPGs will reportedly be in charge of this new venture. As part of Sony's initiative in live service games, it will be developed for release around the world.
The game is now being advertised as "Project H" in NCSoft's developer job listings. The developer behind 2017's Horizon: Zero Dawn and this year's Horizon: Forbidden West, Guerrilla Games, is a Sony subsidiary. Adding multiplayer support for Horizon has been something that Guerrilla Games has been working on for a while.
According to news outlets, co-op was planned for the original Horizon game but scrapped so that more time could be spent on other aspects of the game. Sony apparently wanted co-op in Forbidden West as well, but Guerrilla chose to hold off on implementing it until a later game (either a standalone online spin-off or Horizon 3) came up. Guerrilla Games was looking for new employees last year to work on an MMO. Whether or not this was a Horizon game is unclear.
