McDonald's has stepped into the vibrant world of anime with the launch of the "WcDonald’s" universe, an immersive crossover that pays homage to anime culture. This fictional anime restaurant, inspired by McDonald's and featured in various shows since 1981, now comes to life in over 30 global markets.
The centerpiece of this culinary anime adventure is the introduction of the limited-time Savory Chili WcDonald’s Sauce. This unique sauce blends ginger, garlic, soy, and a hint of chili flakes, capturing the bold and dynamic spirit of anime heroes.
Collaborating with renowned Japanese manga artist Acky Bright, McDonald's has crafted custom-designed WcDonald’s packaging inspired by manga aesthetics. These collectible packages feature a cast of WcDonald’s Crew characters illustrated by Bright. QR codes on the packaging allow consumers to access exclusive weekly digital manga launches, exploring the adventures of WcDonald’s patrons and crew.
In a groundbreaking move, McDonald's has partnered with animation studio Pierrot to produce the first official WcDonald’s anime series. Comprising four episodic shorts, each representing distinct anime subgenres such as action, romance, mecha, and fantasy, the series delves into the WcDonald’s world, exploring narratives centered around the special sauce and WcNuggets.
