Idris Elba is negotiating a $1.2 billion dollar acquisition deal over UK’s Channel 4
Channel 4 in the UK is reportedly up for sale, with Idris Elba thought to be interested in buying it for $1.25 billion.
According to media reports, the actor is in discussions about the proposal with Marc Boyan. The Miroma Group is the marketing and communications firm founded by Boyan. Channel 4 reportedly refused to comment, and Elba's representatives have not made any public statements as of the time of this writing.
UK Culture Secretary Nadine Dorries said in April 2022 that Channel 4 will be sold in order to compete with overseas streaming providers like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. ITV, Comcast's pay-TV service Sky, and Paramount are reportedly vying for Channel 4's attention, according to Variety.
