CD Projekt's best quarter ever was driven by Cyberpunk sales

Cyberpunk 2077 contributed to CD Projekt's record-breaking third-quarter earnings, the developer announced on Monday.

There was a month-over-month increase in Cyberpunk 2077’s popularity during the month of September. During this time, Steam offered a 50% price cut, Netflix began airing episodes of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime series, and the massive 1.6 patch was released.

CD Projekt reported in September that over 20 million copies of the game had been sold, up from 18 million in April. The company also reported that over a million people played the game every day.

The first and only DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 is called Phantom Liberty. You can expect this patch to be released in 2023 for Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox X/S.

CD Projekt Red laid out its strategy for the next few years in October including; A new trilogy of Witcher games, spin-offs of the Witcher titles, and development of the studio's first original IP.

Recently, CD Projekt said that it is developing a "full-fledged remake" of the original The Witcher game in Unreal Engine 5.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's new-gen update, which has been delayed multiple times and switched developers, will finally release on December 14 as a single purchase for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5, and as a free upgrade for existing PC and last-gen console owners.
