Why Kratos rejected Odin's peace offer - God Of War Ragnarok
Kratos's initial decision in God of War: Ragnarok has baffled many gamers. The game plunges players immediately into tense combat.
The plot of God of War: Ragnarok revolves around the idea that Fimbulwinter has ended and Ragnarok is on the horizon. Kratos and Atreus took out Baldur, Magni, and Modi at the end of the last game. This triggered the final phase of events before Ragnarok, known as Fimbulwinter.
After seeing the global impact of Fimbulwinter and Ragnarok, Kratos decides to retire with Atreus in their fortress of a home. After a sequence of circumstances, however, Thor and Odin were forced to meet with Kratos and Atreus to make amends.
Odin accuses Kratos of killing Magni, Modi, and Baldur before making a surprise proposition to him. By Kratos's request, Odin promises to leave him alone. He also begs Tyr to stop looking for him. Many would assume that Kratos would benefit greatly from this offer, based on appearances alone. Kratos's primary concern is the safety of his son, and he realizes that he must keep his family as far away as possible from the gods. He turned down the offer, but why?
Veterans of the brand, though, would not have found the choice to be all that shocking. Kratos' troubled past with the gods was emphasized in the first game and returns here. The fact that Kratos was initially hostile to Freya after finding out she was a goddess just goes to show that he shares this sentiment.
What's more, Mimir has repeatedly forewarned Kratos of Odin's betrayal.
Having had his share of bad encounters with gods, Kratos concluded that it was in their best interests to not enter into any form of truce with them.
