Solo Leveling Anime Wins Best Anime Series at Astra TV Awards
The anime adaptation of Solo Leveling, based on the manhwa by writer Chugong and the late artist DUBU (REDICE Studio), has clinched the "Best Anime Series" award at this year’s Astra TV Awards. Organized by the Hollywood Creative Alliance, the event celebrated excellence across various entertainment categories, and Solo Leveling stood out among notable nominees like Blue Eye Samurai, Frieren: Beyond Journey's End, Ninja Kamui, Pluto, and Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
A video message from Aleks Le, the English voice actor for the series’ protagonist, Sung Jinwoo, was featured during the ceremony. Le accepted the award on behalf of Aniplex, A-1 Pictures, and Crunchyroll, acknowledging the series' achievement and the collaborative effort behind its success.
The first season of Solo Leveling premiered in Japan on January 6, followed by its English dub on Crunchyroll on January 20. Fans eagerly await the second season, titled Solo Leveling Season 2 - Arise from the Shadow, which is set to debut in January 2025. Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures have also been screening Solo Leveling - ReAwakening, a compilation film that recaps the first season and previews the opening episodes of season two, in select locations in the U.S., Canada, and Japan.
This recognition places Solo Leveling among other celebrated works at the Astra Awards, including last year’s win by Attack on Titan for Best Streaming Animated Series. With Solo Leveling gaining momentum, the anime continues to solidify its position as a global fan favorite.
